MBB TOUR HOLLAND
2002 was a great year for the band. In August of that year we arrange our first tour to Europe, visiting Holland, being based based in Rotterdam. During the tour the band was honoured to be asked to play in the Floriade one of the worlds largest garden festivals which attracts many thousands of visitors. The festival is only held every ten years. We also established a unique relationship and friendship with the "Market Garden" Liberation Museum at Grosbeak, near Nijmegen
The band returned to Holland in 2003 and 2005 playing at various venues throughout the country. The climax and final concert of each tour has been in aid of the "Market Garden” Liberation Museum
MBB TAKES BELGIUM BY STORM
August 2007 was one of the most enjoyable tours the band has had, staying for six days in the Holiday Inn Garden Hotel, Ostend, Belgium. Most days were spent relaxing and sightseeing with tours arranged for the Band and its supporters to places such as Brussels, Gent Brugge and so on.
All of our gigs were in Ostend with the first being in the Hotel on Wednesday evening, playing mainly to residences and our traveling supporters.
The tourist office arranged for us to play a concert on Thursday afternoon in the Ostend bandstand. This ornate bandstand located in the center of a large square surrounded by bars and restaurants provided the perfected venue. We started to play but unfortunately the weather changed to rain with gusting winds making it dangerous so the concert was cut short.
On Friday we were booked by Feestzaa Ten Stuyver for an event titled "GALA OF THE DANCE". We played fo to a capacity audience. Ten Stuyver has a ballroom dance club so the standard of dancing was high. An enjoyable evening was had by all.
The gig in Tatis Jazz Bar on Saturday evening was a last minute arrangement. A candle lit smoky cellar provided the relaxed atmosphere of a typical jazz club.
Throughout the evening the club was packed with an appreciative audience whose enthusiastic applause persuaded the band to play several encores.
The welcome and hospitality we received whilst in Belgium was second to none. A special thanks to Sam Lauwers of the tourist office, Steve Van Ryssel of Ten Stuyver, and Tatis and Karen of Tais Jazz Bar
